

Pianist Andrea Lodge has been called a “Must See” (The
Telegram, St. John’s, NL). A proud
native of outport Newfoundland, Canada, Andrea specializes in the performance
of contemporary Canadian piano music.
She recently was awarded 2nd prize at the 2010 Eckhardt-Gramatté National Competition for the Performance of Contemporary Music. Andrea was additionally given a prize for the best performance of the 2010 commissioned work, "Curlicue" by Karen Sunabacka. Andrea represented the province of Newfoundland
at the 2004 Canadian National Music Competition in Charlottetown, P.E.I. and was a finalist in the 2004 Petro-Canada Young Artists Competition. Her playing has been heard nationally on CBC radio on
numerous occasions. Andrea has premiered new works by composers Clark Ross, David Cutler, Marga Richter and C.Curtis Smith, among others.
Andrea is currently completing a Doctorate of Musical Arts
degree at Stony Brook University with professors Gilbert Kalish and Christina
Dahl. She holds a Master of Music degree
from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Music (honours) from Memorial
University. In the Winter 2010 semester, Andrea held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor at Memorial where she taught piano and chamber music.
Andrea performs regularly with guitar piano duo, Sorce-Lodge Duo, piano percussion quartet Sinopia, the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, and with piano percussion duo, Duo Schfifty Five. Andrea teaches in and around Stony Brook, NY. In her spare time, Andrea plays Newfoundland folk music on her accordion!
